Actually, my husband has these weekly phone conferences on a project he took over for somone and he multitasks while he's on the phone and sort of throws in the appropriate (he hopes) yes, thats sounds OK with me sort of responses and once in a while they say Bill will you coordinate with Randy on that, and he'll answer "'sure" and wonder what the heck did I agree to? So it can backfire.
When I was in grad school we had this one technician who taught a speciality course on NMR. Charlie had printed notes you could buy at Kinkos (this was way back in the ealy 80s and that was a novelty back then). I didn't buy them and everyone in class asked why. I told them Charlie talks so slowly I need to take notes to stay awake!
We had another professor who had the lab next to us. he was a very nice guy and he taught my favorite class Inorganic chemistry. Rick was so bad he could have read an x-rated novel and made it sound like a phone book!
having been an undergraduate for 4 years and a graduate studenet 7 years I actually have a few horror stories about teachers but not as many as you'd think, especially considering how many math and science classes I took.
