Though I have to admit I thought the gossip weed would play a bigger part somehow...
I'll see if it shows up in later stories, if I write any more. I got kind of fond of it, even though I originally just tossed it in as a sort of in-joke between me and Chris (there's a gossip weed in a Veggietales movie).
