LOL!

I read something in first-year Psych, about a million years ago, that said that people tend to be happier with their purchases the more money they've spent, because they have to justify the expense to themselves somehow. So eg. people buying the exact same car report greater happiness the more they paid for it. And what with all this lovely health care feeling like it's free, we can dis it all we want. And oh, my, do we ever. Bitch and moan and complain about slow service in Emerg like we're at K-Mart and the salesladies are all gossiping in the corner, instead of busy dealing with a busload of accident victims or poisoned kids. And we make outrageously stupid health care decisions because it's all "free" too. Like, going to Emerg instead of seeing our family docs because the Emerg is near the video store, even though it costs the gov about $500 for you to walk into Emerg and $50 for you to visit your family doc.

Ugh.

Hm, I seem to have veered off talking about health care and taken a turn into my favourite rant topic, People Are Idiots. Oh well.
