What do Greeks, rainbows, fish, little houses, beavers, worms, and cement have in common?

Greek Museum: Here's what we had to show for the couple months we took studying Greek history. That's a Trojan Horse, a Greek theatre, a temple to Poseidon, and two hand-woven mini-carpets. What's not shown are the many many Greek dishes we tried out. Kebabs, lamb stew, some odd egg & tomato thing, lemon-flavoured meatballs, etc. Except for the lamb stew none were huge successes, but somehow Justin's enthusiasm for them never flagged :)

Rainbow over our street: the boys spotted this one, and were totally thrilled.

Big Fish: First time the boys went fishing this year they caught the biggest fish ever. 3 pounds - 2 of them edible. Mmmmmmmm.

Reading Little House on the Prairie as part of English.

Thanks for the memories: Daniel went from Cub to Scout, and Justin swam up from Beaver to Cub. So for the first time in six years, we will have no Beaver in our house. ::sniff:: Minds out of the gutter to anybody who went there, and you know who you are.

Vermiposter: This was one of the kids' science projects. A friend of ours wanted a vermiposter to digest the digestible parts of a bear skull she had found, so the kids made her one. This was after she'd brought us a bunch of pickled organs and animals to dissect. Home schoolers are an odd bunch.

Roman Road: Yes, that is one of our pots being used to make concrete. We lay down a small roman road, with sand as the first layer, gravel for the second, cement for the third, and paving stones for the final layer. Lots of fun. Ended up with extra cement, and gave it to another family. See above re. home schoolers.
