- Best part of the day: sledding down to Dulude. Note to self: bring helmet next time, as the "Oh let's go down that way - it's not icy at all!" was only ice-free until right before the jump. Apparently, though, we both positively glowed when we got inside.
- Worst part: reply from teacher re. part-time home schooling. Too upset to even go into it. What I was thinking just last week was working really, really well has just been suddenly completely changed on us this week.

What's happened is that Justin's class schedule changed this week and he will either have to go full-time, or miss so many of his classes that he won't be able to succeed. It's gone from "Subject X is done in the mornings" to "Subject X is done in the mornings twice a week and in the afternoons twice a week," and "Subject Y is done in the afternoons" to "Subject Y will be done in the morning three times and afternoon once." The kids are still getting all the same classes, just moved around. And "Subject X" is Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, and French, and "Subject Y" is Phys Ed, Music, Art, and Dance. And it's not that we didn't want him to do Music, Art, etc, but they happened to be in the afternoons and he either doesn't like them much anyway, or is doing way more extracurricularly than he would get in school anyway.
We had carefully planned all of our home schooling things assuming that the schedule he had would stay the same, and he could go to school every morning plus one afternoon a week. It changed. We weren't asked for input on the change, we didn't know it could change, we knew absolutely nothing until Monday, when it was presented as a fait accompli.
I'm sure that the changes were made for a good reason, and I can understand that maybe it wouldn't be possible to consult the parents. But it really blindsided us. Even a bit of a warning would have been nice. We made many decisions regarding home schooling things Justin would and would not participate in based on what we had been told by the school. Not too sure what to trust now :(
