When you don't know whether to scream with laughter or outrage...

Wow. I know I'm probably one of the last to see this, but my jaw dropped at the Motrin babywearing ad.

Wow. Babywearing is "fashionable"? And it makes you look like an "official mom"? And it makes babywearers cry more than moms who don't wear their babies? Wow. Way to prove conclusively that you have absolutely nobody on your staff who knows the tiniest thing about what babywearing is all about.

Amazing. I'm choosing to laugh at it because it's funny in a train-wreck kind of way, but I think if I was still wearing my kids I'd be pretty damn pissed off. What a perfect example of utter Fail.

Honestly, it wasn't so much the text alone that made it offensive, but the tone of voice used by the woman doing the voice over. Oh well.

Yeah, no kidding. I can't believe somebody thought this would be a good idea. B'zuh?!

I have no words.

I have several. I generally try not to swear unnecessarily, though, so I won't use them ;D

I just saw an article that says they've retracted the ad (http://www.motrin.com/) due to pressure from babywearing mamas (http://consumerist.com/5091491/motrin-retracts-ads-after-babywearing-mamas-protest).

They withdrew the ad. At least according to this article in the NY Times.

I never baby wore coz I had/have a bad back. that being said, when I saw that ad I did wonder how the ad agency managed to sell it... seriously what on earth were they thinking?!

Yeah. I do agree with the article that the shock and outrage was a little out of proportion to the ad itself. Calling for a boycott of all Motrin products? Bit of overkill, IMHO.

Still. Way to completely misunderstand your target audience.
