so much stuff swirling
Apr. 22nd, 2003 08:08 pmWow, two things when I logged on earlier today that had me swearing out loud at my computer and still have me shaking my head.
The first was
tobiascharity's privacy woes. Sorry, TC, I'm still floored by that.
The second was this story, on top Bush aides discussing how to punish France for its anti-war stance.

Jesus Christ. Excuse me? Not only will the Bush admin go to war despite the largest world-wide protests in history as well as a sizable protest within their own country, but they'll PUNISH any allies who dare to VOICE OPPOSITION?!!
Deeply frightening. Individuals in the US deciding to boycott Canadian (or French or German) products, I can understand. A certain coldness towards formerly close allies, I can understand. But premeditated outright Shunning for the crime of Expressing an Opinion?!
WTF?!
Excuse me, wasn't one of the many crimes of Saddam that of crushing any opposition within his country? Wasn't that one of the things the US supposedly went to war to liberate the Iraqi people from?
Gaze not into the abyss, baby.
