Sep. 10th, 2004 06:19 pmIt's the Interview Meme! The one that goes around lj every few months and that I hop on to every. single. time. My lemmingness knows no limits.
Here's how it works:
-Leave a comment, saying you want to be interviewed.
-I will respond by asking you five questions.
-You'll update your journal with my five questions, and your five answers.
-You'll include this explanation.
-You'll ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed.
So, I finally answered
snarkhunter's
1) What will it take to get you reading LoTRips?
Hee :)
A miracle or an offer I can't refuse. "I will give you $1M if you read LoTRips" would do it.
Who am I kidding. "I will give you $500 if you read LoTRips" will do it.
I avoid it like the plague because I know myself, you see. I tend to be rather obsessive in my hobbies. I once memorized everything anybody ever knew about Gypsies because I thought to wonder one day, "Who the hell are the Gypsies? Where do they come from?" Several months, dozens of books, a few movies, and various magazine searches later, I finally de-obsessed. And that was before the days of web searches. Can you imagine what I would do if I got it into my head that I needed to learn more about the various LOTR actors?
So. For the sake of remaining only a friendly fan and not a ViggOrlando!Stalker, I think I will stay the hell away.
2) If you had to live somewhere other than Canada, what country would you live in (and why)?
Probably the US. It wouldn't be that different from here, especially if I lived in Oregon, Northern California, New York, Massachussets, Vermont... you know, traditionally liberal stomping grounds ;)
Or Australia. I visited Melbourne for about a week a few years ago and was almost disoriented at how identical it was to Southern Ontario. Except they had parrots and didn't say "eh."
I would prefer somewhere with not a lot of poverty, without much violence, and with some kind of social conscience. Not millenia of history either - you know, one of those places where your grandchildren will still be considered immigrants? So a lot of Europe would be right out.
So yeah. US. Australia. Maybe New Zealand.
3) Do you know what kind of law you want to practice when you're done with school?
Not really. Maybe mediation/alternative dispute resolution. Aboriginal law is huge right now, as is intellectual property law, but I don't know if I could deal with the property part of "intellectual property." It's rather dry.
I'd love to do either family or environmental law, but burnout in family is legendary, so um, no thanks, and apparently most of the jobs for environmental lawyers are in companies like DuPont or Shell, helping them to legally rape Mother Earth. Again: no thanks.
4) What is your ultimate (money and time no issue) vacation fantasy?
Oh, wow. I don't know. Money and time have been an issue for so long that I just don't go there in my mind.
Um... probably hiking through Ireland and Scotland. Or horseback riding through the Rockies. Or sailing around the world.
Unfortunately, Chris is afraid of horses and doesn't like boats. I may have to settle for the hiking, although he said once that if it was important enough to me, he would do his best to get over his fear of horses. That's real love :)
5) What three things do you think would improve public schooling for all kids?

5) What three things do you think would improve public schooling for all kids?
- smaller classrooms
- more community involvement (volunteers, field trips, co-op placements, etc)
- more support staff - especially for learning disabled kids
