Daniel has a sort of show & tell thing tomorrow, and he told Chris he wanted to bring in pictures of "Mama when she was little and travelled around the world." So I go to look through some old pictures and find... well, Daniel.

Neither one of our kids started out looking like us, so it still catches me off guard when I see that he resembles me. Weird.








We were at my mom's house some time last year, after she'd gotten through her first bout of cancer and before she found it had come back. She mentioned that one of the things that had made her sad when she was sick was that if she died, she wouldn't get the chance to see Justin grow up. And then she'd wondered, why Justin? Why not Daniel so much? "And then I thought... I've already seen Daniel grow up," she said. "Right here," and she nodded at me.

Anyway. Back to Environmental Law.
