Gobble gobble gobble
Oct. 12th, 2003 11:16 amSo I went hiking in the Gatineaus yesterday with the boys and Amit and Jeea and their daughter Kiran. It's amazing how, when you don't see a kid for about 5 months and they're only slightly over 1 yr old, those 5 months change them into a completely different person. Apparently Kiran talks a lot now, although I only heard her say "Cacker peeez" (cracker please) and "diaper". She also says Mama, Dada, and about 50 other words, including star, planet, and galaxy, courtesy of Baby Galileo. And so the torch of geekdom is passed on to another generation.
The Gatineaus? Are bloody breathtaking this time of year. The crimson and orange and canary yellow of the leaves, spread out below you when you're at the top of a ridge, or contrasted against the vivid blue of the sky when you look up... it's stunning. Sort of puts you at peace with the world, just knowing that there's vistas that beautiful in it.
=======
Also got to visit with Kieron and Mary at dinner time. It was good getting back in touch, and finding out what's been happening to our old Kingston friends. We've kind of lost touch with many of them. It was interesting, seeing who's moved along in the last few years, who's stuck in a rut, whose life has taken unexpected turns...
I also amazed the hell out of myself by making honey curried chicken, sweet saffron rice, and spiced carrots. I am so pregnant. Chris keeps making little comments like, "What did you do with Jim?" and "You know, I like you a lot better than my real wife."
I may never go off these hormones again, if they make it this enjoyable to cook, do crafts, and eat healthy foods. I like me better than Chris' real wife too ;)
=======
So. Plan for today: I've cleaned most of the house, so all that's left is turkey, turkey, turkey. We're anticipating about 17 people today, and we're providing the turkey with all the trimmings and pies. The rest will be pot-luck.
And Todd and Susan are indeed coming with the kids. I was kind of dreading that they wouldn't be able to, but apparently they'll be here in about an hour or so.
=======
Question: does anybody know how to get lines to appear on your entries?
