looking back
Sep. 11th, 2004 06:17 pmFunny thing today - we've been busy, cleaning and cooking and introducing another kid to the D&D group - but every few hours I get reminded that it's September 11. And it's like a small pang in my stomach - not the horrible wrenching dread and sorrow of the day itself in 2001, or the sadness of the first anniversary, or the cynical anger of the second anniversary, as I looked at how the world had changed over the last two years. This year... it's more of a feeling like this is the way the world has always been. What seemed like unimaginable horror on the day has now become an anniversary marked by red, white and blue merchandise and marketing and spin from all directions.

a_dawn posted a link to Jon Stewart's return to The Daily Show after September 11. I've lost the video link, but was able to find a transcript of the show that night. It's so sad, reading it over three years later and thinking of what we all felt that day, and where we all are today.

Here's a link: The Daily Show. If anybody finds the video, please let me know. I don't think I can take watching it again - but would like to download it for future reference.
Also, here's a link to
