This Ten Things I've Done meme... you're making it awfully difficult, folks. But I've had fun with it so far and learned lots about my f-list, so I'm re-posting my current ten things that nobody's done, and wondering how long it'll last. Care to have another kick at the can?

Because the post itself was public and people posted their comments publicly, I assumed they wouldn't mind me putting their names here. I figured if they did, they would have e-mailed me in private. Let me know, please, if you would like me to erase your name.

Ten things I've done that you (probably) haven't, and eight that some of you have )

And in case anybody was wondering about some of the weirder things on the list, here's some explanations )

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] ninja_kat and [livejournal.com profile] culturevulture7 have their own lists. Go see :)

(Taking a break from doing my Law Review article and having no idea how to replace the four items in my last Ten Things list that other people have done too, here's some random brain burbles)

Yesterday I heard those words that mean so much to parents, in of those situations where you really wish you didn't have to hear them.

Went to pick up Justin from day care. He saw me, and his face crumpled up and he came running over. He got out "I lost my ring" before the howls set in. Through the sobbing came those magic words, "You were right!" but man, I wish I'd been wrong. I had told him that if he brought his ring (a little plastic thingy with sparkles) to school he would probably lose it.

How can something so small hurt so much? I can lose something of mine and feel nothing but intense irritation. But one of my kids loses something precious to them, no matter how insignificant, and it's heartbreaking.

I wish I had the exact words of a quote I heard once. Something like "To be a parent is to walk around with your heart outside your body."

Well, that was depressing. On a completely different tack, here's a couple of Chris quotes:

"If I could time travel, I would go to the bank, take out all my money, then go back one day and deposit it. Then I would come back to today and go to the bank, where I would have twice as much money as I did before. I would take that out, and go back to yesterday again, deposit it, and come back to today. I would just keep doing that until I was ridiculously wealthy. And the bank would never be able to understand how my money kept doubling and doubling and doubling."

"No, really, whatever you decide you want to do, I'm happy just to do it with you. ::pause:: Unless you decide you want us to shovel sh*t together. I mean, there have to be some limits. Otherwise, I'd be totally whipped."

Guy can't have surgery; he'll have to have chemo. He'll find out next week what kind, and for how long, and what kind of prognosis he's getting.

I have no idea what we're going to tell the kids.
