the memes not taken
Mar. 7th, 2005 09:23 pmFanfic Author Appreciation Week
March 6 through March 13
Post to your LJ each day at least one of your favorite fanfic authors and why you love them, their work, and why they need more appreciation
I probably won't do the above meme, because it's rare that I can get lj to accept any of my entries lately. Ornery bi - uh, witch. But I thought I'd do the Town Crier thing and let y'all know about it anyway.
Oh, and there's another meme, wherein you reveal your Secret Fanfic Shame. Like, you get really turned on by fics starring fully-clothed sex, or pairing unnattractive characters, or you have a strange fixation with fics that use the word 'cerulean'.
Not gonna do that one either. Nope, I'm going to finish up my Review article. I can't tell you anything about it because of our confidentiality rules. But I will reveal one thing: it is boring as all git-out, and gives MBPU a run for his money in terms of soporificism, which is a word I believe I just invented.
::whiplash:: Back to work!!
::pause::
::poke poke::
::whiplash:: Wake up!

brief brain break
Mar. 7th, 2005 11:52 pmSo I said I probably wouldn't do the Fanfic Appreciation Week thing, and I probably won't. No time. But as the Review article is threatening to make my brain implode from sheer frustrated boredom, here's a list off the top of my head of people whose work I've really liked, in no particular order, and only mentioning Law & Order (TOS) writers because if I tried to remember all the various authors of the other L&Os and The X-Files and Star Trek(s) and Homicide and Queer As Folk and Lord of the Rings and you get the picture I would never go back to my stupid article again because... well, would you?
bear,
snarkhunter,
bast2,
woffproff,
sugarkane_59,
tobiascharity,
cassatt,
medee6040,
jenniferjames,
culturevulture7,
gypsum,
senza,
leaper182,
jessebee, Leslie Rampey, Twins of Hazzard, Karen Howard-Joly, Trig, Gwenn McNabb, Major Houlihan, JillC, and one of the slashy Dorothys.
And I know I'm missing lots and lots and lots, especially people who haven't written in a while, because my brain has filled in every available cranny with Admin & Const Law CRAP that has pushed out many a lovely fic that made me happy and made me sigh. One of the reasons I'd like to archive t100+ stuff this summer (after I finish this *&%$ing term) is that I'd like to go back and re-read old fics, and fall in love once more ;)
