Woo-hoo!!

Walked the kids to the bus stop wearing a t-shirt and an open windbreaker and hair still wet from the shower. Marvelous. It's 2.5°C (36.5°F) and sunny. Wheee!!!

I've got about 7000 pages of Admin Law and 200 pages of Constitutional to catch up on, the downstairs to tidy, E. Fry to contact, two essays to work on, two companies to track down for my mom's executorship stuff, three loads of laundry to fold & put away, one parent/teacher conference to attend, my husband to murder, and Guilder to frame for it. I'm swamped.

Nonetheless, I'm in a remarkably good mood, raring to go and looking forward to the many tasks that await me. Sunshine is quite the natural high.

The only downside to my day so far is that I appear to have put Tom Lehrer's "Smut" into the permanent playlist in my head. Damn you, [livejournal.com profile] ninja_kat, for that Tom Lehrer CD you made for me. Damn you.

Let's try to exorcise it, shall we?

Downstairs is fully tidied and swept, upstairs is swept except for the boys' room, laundry has been sorted and is washing and drying at a good clip, and now I will plunge headfirst the dreaded swamp of AdminLaw and Constitutional.

Found a little list Daniel and I made several homeschooling Fridays ago, tracing the fate of all nine members of the Fellowship of the Ring.

  1. Boromir: killed by orcs at the breaking of the Fellowship (Year 3019).
  2. Frodo: leaves for the Grey Havens with Bilbo and the Three Keepers of the elven kings (Elrond, Galadriel, and Gandalf), (Year 3021).
  3. Gandalf: see above.
  4. Sam: after a long, long life, Sam's wife Rosie Cotton dies and he rides out from Bag End. Tradition is handed down that he went past the Towers and to the Grey Havens, the last of the Ring-bearers to do so, at the age of 102 (Year 3082).
  5. Merry and
  6. Pippin: live for many years, then leave the Shire and go to Edoras to visit King Eomer until Eomer dies in 3084. They then go to Gondor to visit King Elessar (AKA Aragorn, AKA Strider, AKA the Dunedain, AKA Hunka Hunka Burnin' Middle-Earth Love) and live there for a few more years, and die past the age of 100. Both are buried in Rath Dinen among the great of Gondor (Year 3084+).
  7. Aragorn: reigns for a long time and dies in the Year 3141, aged 209.
  8. Legolas and
  9. Gimli: after Aragorn's death, they build a grey ship in Ithilien, and sail over the sea to the Grey Havens, the last of the Fellowship to leave Middle Earth (Year 3141).

Lower floor swept. Laundry done. AdminLaw reading done, Constit halfway done.

Taking a break.

Here's a Frantics (?) skit that I've always loved, and which I won't be showing the kids any time soon ;)

Terri Schiavo dies amid legal, ethical battle.

Rest in peace.

Thinking about Terri Schiavo and my mom. And I don't know why, but this song always reminds me of my mother's last days, and reminds me of how lucky we all were that those days were relatively few and painless.
