Odd to be writing fic about a person who, totally accidentally, runs into somebody they hadn't seen in fifteen years, and then, totally accidentally, run into two people I haven't seen in five years.

Yeah, it's 5 v. 15 years, and the people I ran into were never my arch-enemies, and there's been no intervening magical war (that I'm aware of) so the similarity falls apart fairly quickly, but it was still odd. It was two moms I knew in Kingston when Daniel was a baby. I was in prenatal class with one of the moms, and Mom & Me group with the other. They were in Ottawa for the day, shopping at IKEA. Who knew ;)

So now I'm off to try and finish off my fic about the fifteen year thing, and trying not to think of IKEA. Because IKEA totally doesn't fit the fic at all.

And let me just put a big old HAND up to repel any attempts by certain persons to suggest a trip to IKEA for the protagonists, maybe to look at mattresses - totally innocently, of course - and then to oh so accidentally fall upon the same mattress at the same time and be all atwitter and confused and thus segue into slashy territory.

Yes, you know who you are.

You know, being three years old is hard enough in terms of making anybody understand what the frig you're saying. Being three and mostly only speaking Vietnamese in an English & French-speaking neighbourhood makes it doubly hard. So it's useful to be really, really cute. That way your neighbours won't know whether you're being naughty or you just don't understand them when they ask you not to wander into their homes.

These are things that our neighbour An has learned in the last few weeks, as the weather has left many front doors open along our street. She's an adventurous little kid. Beautiful smile. And one of the only English phrases she knows is "I waant!!"

She also knows "JUSSin!!" and "DAANya!!" Daanya doesn't really notice her. Jussin alternates between thinking she's one of the cutest movable objects in his world, and one of the most annoying.
