Little Boxes, On The Hillside / Little Boxes, Made Of Ticky Tacky

Little boxes, little boxes,

The babysitter who lives down our street has been very sick lately, and I've been walking the four little girls she babysits down to the bus and back in the mornings, as she can't do it herself. The other day I realized that I had labelled them "The Moppets" in my head, and this realization was followed by the realization that I didn't actually know any of their names.

Happily, they come conveniently labelled - each girl's backpack has a big plastic tag with their name, bus route number, and classroom. So I now know that they are called Ashley, Clare, Halle, and Tania.

But which is which? The littlest... well, they're all in JK, so they're all little. The one with the pink boots... they all have pink or light purple boots. The one with the cutesey backpack... what with the Hello Kitty, Care Bears, Disney Princess and Barbie motifs, all done in pink, purple and white, I can't distinguish between the cutenesses. The one with the blond hair... two of them are blond. The other two have light brown hair. And it's uniformly shoulder length, and various degrees of curly/wavy. Oh, and often accessorized with pins or elastics with little cutesey furry animals, in various tones of, you guessed it, pink or purple.

There's some sort of Village of the Damned thing going on with these kids; it's eerie.

Daniel is at Garry's for a sleepover. We've only got Justin at home. It's both very nice and distinctly odd, to have adults outnumbering children in our home right now.

BTW, we've discovered that Justin loves tuna sandwiches. No mayo, no spices, no chopped celery: just bread, butter, and tuna. It's great having a garburator for a kid :)

I'm currently sending copies of songs to various people, and I figured as long as I was doing that I should also make them available here. So here they are:

• Paul Halley, Freedom Trilogy, to my home schooling choir, who are learning this song and who apparently may not have enough sopranos to rip out their vocal chords hit the last five bars of high A, fortissimo. I'm kind of hoping they don't, so I can offer to come in and help them sing just that one song. I miss them.

• Peter Tosh & Mick Jagger, Walk And Don't Look Back, for whoever wants it. Came across it while looking for Bob Marley's One Love, and it reminded me of the one pseudo-songfic I've ever written (Walk And Don't Look Back, L&O.)

a_dawn, sorry but I actually can't find Bob Marley's One Love. Chris and I are both absolutely sure we've got it, somewhere. But we can't figure out where. Sorry!


Edit: I've just been reminded (and, um... thanks(?)) that I did write one actual songfic. A drabble songfic, if you can believe that. You Look Like A Fool To Me, L&O Classique.
