Ardeth Wood and a very long Friday
Oct. 21st, 2005 07:31 pmWow. Ardeth Wood's murderer has been found and charged, two years later.
Wood was a PhD student at Waterloo, visiting her parents in Ottawa in August of 2003 when she disappeared. The police did the biggest search in their history, her disappearance was news all over the city, and her body was found a few days later, but they never found her killer, although there were reports that some creepy guy had been trying to get women using the bike path Wood used to talk to him. We were kind of jumpy for a while, wondering if maybe there was a serial rapist/killer on the loose. Then the story kind of faded away.
Well, they finally found him yesterday, purely by luck. He was being charged for sexual assaults in North Bay and two cops from Ottawa happened to overhear North Bay cops talking about him, thought his behaviour sounded familiar, and somehow connected the dots.

My day has been long, and filled with children. Four of them, to be precise; my own, and Anne's kids Eva and Garry. Eva is ten, bright, funny, interesting, a wonderful kid... and, well, ten. Wonderful, but a little tiring. And Garry is Garry. He and Daniel get along wonderfully, and he and Justin do pretty well too, but put the three of them together and I need a Fiorenal. Three is not a good number.
I'll need to get permission from Eva to post the little poem she made up about the boys today. It starts with "BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!", so you can imagine how much I liked it.
Will also need to get
ninja_kat's permission to post pictures of Jacob, because he's totally gorgeous.
Also worked on Daniel's ninja costume (I'm almost done!), got Daniel's home schooling goals mostly done, took them all to swimming lessons, got myself two weeks ahead in Labour Law readings and almost finished my OLR work.
Phew.
Going to collapse now.
