  • Daniel eats his hair - one of about a million annoying little tics he has that drive us crazy. He pulls the hair that hangs around his face into his mouth and chews on it absentmindedly. Our last attempt to get him to stop was rather creative, and worked very well for a while: we tied his hair back and dipped the short ends that dangled near his mouth in Tabasco sauce. He likes Tabasco, but it's a bit startling to taste it suddenly, and it reminds him that he's no supposed to eat his hair. And it always works - for a while. He stops, we stop putting it on him, he's fine for a few weeks... and then he restarts and on goes the Tabasco sauce again.

Today was another "OK, let's get the sauce out again," and I'm feeling rather grumpy about it. Not so much because of Daniel's hair, but because I put the sauce on, washed my hands, then two hours later got an itch in my eye, rubbed it - and !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My friend who's going through a messy break-up right now, on her ex: "And the shit he's pulling! It's unreal! And how I can keep being surprised by this crap is just a complete mystery to... all of my friends!"

  • Am currently wading through a variously uplifting, and edifying, and thought-provoking, and misery-inducing morass of Biblical studies and philosophical wonderings and reflections on anti-Semitism. Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] umbo ;)

I may link at some point. I may not. It's... yeah.

  • Am currently taking a break from this heaviness by visiting The 10 Most Terrifyingly Inspirational '80s Songs. Oh yeah, baby.
    • "The Final Countdown" by Europe
    • "Wanted (Dead or Alive)" by Bon Jovi
Excerpt: When he tried to repeat its success with "Blaze of Glory," the whole thing became laughable (when Bon Jovi insists that he is a "Colt in your stable," a lyric which may be the most unintentionally gay thing anybody ever said, ever, throughout time).
    • "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen
    • "Love is a Battlefield" by Pat Benatar
    • "Holding Out for a Hero" by Bonnie Tyler
Excerpt: In response to this heart-wrenching plea for masculinity, men of the '80s commenced to wear white loafers without socks, purchased hair mousse in bulk and turned up their Wham! albums until Bonnie Tyler's screams for help were drowned out.
    • "Don’t Stop Believing" by Journey
    • "Jukebox Hero" by Foreigner
    • "Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins
    • "You’re the Best" by Joe Esposito
    • "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor

Feel the screaming guitars. The hair. The synth. The pastel lip gloss.
