Re. executors of wills: "The effect of the personal liability provision is, crudely put, to terrorize personal representatives into ensuring that they do not overlook their obligation to file tax returns on behalf of an estate..."

Later: "In some circumstances, it may be better not to invite a taxing authority to take a second kick at the cat but rather (to mix metaphors) to let a sleeping dog lie."

You know what I'm going to do once the Bar exam is over? I'm going to make a pie. A bunch of pies, I think. Apple, pumpkin, blueberry and maybe rhubarb. It's been too bloody long since I last made a pie.

Squee!

Yay! I just did some mock questions for the Barrister test, and did pretty well!

OK. I'm beginning to think I may pass this part. I have no hope in hell of passing the Solicitor exam, as it is mostly business and tax-related, but am still going to take it and hope for the best. I really really really want to pass the Barrister part the first time, though. It's the stuff I actually find interesting, or nearly interesting, anyway. Civil procedure, criminal law, family law, constitutional, all that stuff.

You know, I feel really bad for JFK Jr., wherever he is now. The poor man has been dead over ten years, and yet every other person who has found out I'm writing a Bar exam has comforted me by reminding me that The Hunk Flunked - twice - so I shouldn't feel bad if I don't pass the first time.

Which is so unfair. A lot of people fail the first time. And he was writing the New York Bar, which was supposedly one of the toughest in the country. But they didn't get their picture splashed across People for their failures, did they?

::pets JFK Jr's memory::

OK, back to studying.
