Long, long overdue
Apr. 5th, 2009 07:21 pmFinally got the last of my mom's things out of her basement.
Yes, my mother died in 2004. Her widower died in 2006. I rented her house out in 2007 and sold it to the renters in 2008.
Anyway, we brought everything upstairs, divvied it up into Value Village/storage/our place, dropped stuff off at VV, went to the storage space, picked up boys from TKD, dropped Chris' car off at Canadian Tire, then went to Chinese Buffet.
Am soooo relaxed now that's off my mind. I've been fretting since we sold the place. Finally! Done! Why put off for today what you can put off for over a year?
The storage place was a little freaky, though. One of the employees is walking us down to our room and I'm getting a kind of meeepy feeling at the sterile white hallway with the dozens of identical metal doors reaching towards a vanishing point like a perspective picture and then at one point I say something like, "This is just like The X-Files."
"Yeah I was about to say the same thing," says Chris. "Like there's a horror scene about to happen."
"We get that a lot," says the employee. "What with all the doors being so uniform, it's kinda creepy."
In other news, after that Chinese Buffet I don't think I will be needing to eat until sometime next Tuesday. Ow.
