The Dreaded Flu, Day Two

... picture me knocking on all the wood I can find, because OMG if this is what everyone's been freaking out about?

Justin's fine. Had a bit of a sore throat and headache this morning, and is still slightly stuffy. Otherwise, no fever, no chills, no aches, appetite back to 100%, energy high as ever. He has to keep away from other people for another 24 hours. Whatever, it's the weekend.

Sure hope this is actually the end of it. And that the rest of us don't come down with it, and that if we do, it's as mild as Justin's. ::crosses all fingers::

Metaphor mangling

Chris and I are talking about how interesting it is that many of the anti-Arab/Muslim sentiments we hear and read are from people claiming to be anti-Muslim because of negative Muslim attitudes towards women or gays. Which is interesting, because although women and gays have legitimate reasons to be a little nervous about certain fundamentalist Muslim tenets, many of the folks who now claim great concern for women and gays never gave a rat's ass about them before. But hey, why be picky about which arguments you're going to use to denigrate a group you hate?

"Yeah, you know, any port in a storm," says Chris.

"And politics makes for strange bedfellows," I say.

"And really, it's any port in a strange bedfellow during a storm," he concludes.
