Year In Review
Dec. 31st, 2009 09:06 am1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
Can't think of a single thing. I'm not sure whether to add, "That's 'cause I've done it all!" or not.
2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Don't really want to look at them, because I'm pretty sure I didn't keep them. I'll still make some for this year. And they'll probably be the same ones. ::sigh::
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
ninja_kat had Ms
ninja_kat Jr :D :D :D
4. Did anyone close to you die?
My aunt's husband. I hadn't seen him in about twenty years, so I'm not sure that qualifies as close, but it's still sad that he's gone.
5. What countries did you visit?
America! Went to Boston in February.
6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
A job.
7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I'm trying really hard to remember one, so I guess etching didn't happen. Ms
ninja_kat Jr's birthday was a pretty cool thing, though :)
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Probably helping to make my aunt & niece's 22-day visit in August, and my sister's visit over Christmas, big successes.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not getting a job.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Anything bad?
Don't think so. Justin supposedly had the swine flu, but as this comprised of him feeling tired for two days and really yucky for one, I'm not sure it qualifies as Major Disease of the Year.
11. What were the best things you bought?
Stuff for the kids, probably.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Chris' and the kids', especially during the visits. And Chris' family over Christmas, for making us feel so welcome and for making Emma feel at home.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Canada's, unfortunately. At least when it comes to environmental issues.
14. Where did most of your money go?
To the kids.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
... damn, I'm sure I'm forgetting something here.
16. What song/s will always remind you of 2009?
None. Simon and Garfunkel, possibly, because I bought their Live At Central Park album and the kids totally latched onto it.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. Happier or sadder? Happier
ii. Thinner or fatter? Fatter
iii. Richer or poorer? Poorer
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Eaten more healthy food, and gotten our red belts before year's end.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Worry about other people's attitudes.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
In Calgary, with Chris' family.
21. Did you fall in love in 2009?
Already there :)
22. How many one-night stands?
None I would admit to, see above ;)
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Yes, I know it's been off for years.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nope.
26. What was the best book you read?
The World Without Us. The God Delusion was very good, but Dawkins' attitude grates on me too often.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Mozart's Vespers.
28. What did you want and get?
Everything I actually needed, I think. More than you can say about most of the world.
29. What did you want and not get?
A job.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Up!
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 39, and spent it with Chris' huge extended family :) :) :)
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A job.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
Keep warm and don't get arrested.
34. What kept you sane?
Online life.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Um, I don't. I don't know any of them.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Copenhagen.
37. Who did you miss?
My mom.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
...?
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009.
Flooding, to get rid of social anxieties/mild phobias/hangups? WORKS, OMG!!
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
Oh yeah, life goes on/Long after the thrill of living is gone...
Except it totally doesn't. It was just playing in the background as I wrote this and it sounded funny ;)
It's weird how for every other question I answered thinking, "Damn, I just know I'm forgetting something here..."
