"Well, yes. It's not a drop-off event, you know. Parents are expected to be involved, even if they're not volunteering to help run the dance."
"Oh. Sorry, we're still getting used to this; we've been home schooling for the last four years."
In other words: "B****, please."
Don't even try to out-Mom-cred me, honey. I got home after an hour-long commute to find out that there was a school dance that I didn't know about, that my kid wanted to go to. Got to sit for an entire ten minutes before getting up to drive him to the dance. Realized upon arrival that parents were supposed to stay through the entire two hours, which is not a huge sacrifice and I would've been happy to make it if I'd known it was happening and hadn't been dreaming all day of finally being home and taking off my pants and eating pizza (from a box, not home-made!) and eventually helping Daniel to pack for tomorrow's Scout's Klondike Day and getting to bed early in order to have Daniel at the Klondike starting point way over in Gatineau byass o'clock of the morning tomorrow (20 min drive, arrival at 7:50AM).
Thanks, by the way, for the way your face changed from superior-snooty to slightly embarrassed. Parents have a hard enough time worrying and juggling all of their responsibilities and being blamed for all the ills of society. We kinda don't really need to act snippy with each other and try to make another parent feel bad when we assume they are deficient/uninvolved just because they asked a god damn question.
