All right, you decrepit, stained, motley-coloured nightmare. It's just you and me here now, and I'm sentient, bipedal and have opposable thumbs. You're going down.

4. Rest of floor: scrubbed
   
5. TSP: washed on, washed off
   
6. Hole in floor: patched
   
7. Center of room: located

1. wait for patch to dry
   
2. mix up tiles from all boxes
   
3. start laying tile
   
4. repeat step 3

I am unclear on what, exactly, The Rapture is supposed to be like, but I'm led to believe it is not this. Nevertheless, there is a sense of satisfaction in watching the water run clear from the cloth I'm scrubbing the floor with, seeing that the floor still looks like crap, and reminding myself that it won't be crappy for too much longer :D
