September 11

I've been avoiding much of the 9/11 related stuff, not because it's being trivialized or because some people are wallowing or commercializing or whatever, but because it's actually still a bit painful.

So I started writing this this morning and it's a few hours later now and I'm tired and teary. I ended up re-reading the journal entries I wrote at the time, and reading speeches and looking at photographs and I think that's probably enough now. I'm going to post this, my journal entries, and a few links, and then go detox.

Journal entries - slight profanity alert

So weird, to read this ten years on. We were living in London, Ontario, in married student housing. Chris had recently returned to residency after his motorcycle accident, Daniel was 4 1/2 years old, Justin was 1 1/2.

Sting was supposed to do a live concert that day, in Italy. After the attacks, he and the band decided to play one song, then go to black.
