May. 23rd, 2003 05:41 pmI am downloading queen.
I've been downloading off and on, songs that I've heard on the radio but would never actually buy (ie I only like one song by an artist). Chris has actually decided that he likes enough of Avril Lavigne's songs that he wants to buy one of her albums. Which makes me giggle - I like her stuff too, but not only is Avril's fan base mostly girls 8-14, but she'll make a fine addition to Chris' selection of CDs. Let's see - everything Ozzy Osbourne has ever put out, ditto Alice Cooper, Nirvana, The Doors... and Avril Lavigne. ::snicker::
Anyway. So we've downloaded here and there - and then yesterday I decided to look for Chilean music. I've found a gold mine of Inti Illimani and Quilapayun, all the songs I grew up with. And a whole bunch of people have been downloading them from us too.
Then I decided to look for Jerry Orbach, whom Leslie always enthused about as an incredibly versatile singer. I downloaded a few of his Broadway songs, and my god she's right - for one thing, you can't tell you're listening to the same guy that does Lennie Briscoe at all, but for another, almost every song sounds totally unique. Incredible vocal range.
So I'm browsing through Broadway songs, and then I see a song from the Aladdin, Prince of Thieves soundtrack. Well, hell, I've watched that a million times with Daniel and Justin. And Jerry Orbach's in it?
Yes, he is. He does a song as the wannabe-King of Thieves, which I've heard a million times. And yeah, it's bizarre. What's Lennie doing in my kids' movie?
