Morning went OK, tout en francais. Then Justin came home, we had lunch, then went out. Walking, because the last time we were out biking Daniel's back tire went wonky and started rubbing against the frame, and then my chain fell off, so we left the bikes locked to a bikestand near a church. Today we walked to the church with tools in my backpack to try to fix them.

Huzzah! Fixed them both! Then the boys played at the park while I did a bit of reading. Next we went to the library, where I was going to see whether there was such a thing as a good kids' geometry book (that's practically all Daniel has to learn from grade 3 math, according to the Ontario Curriculum guidelines) (well - he also needs to practice his times tables, but that's also part of grade 4, so I'm just going to move them to grade 4).

And: Huzzah! Not only found a geometry book, but also found a kids' book that explains Roman numerals, which Daniel had just learned about this morning. So we read it. Very cute; it involved pigs. MMMMDCCCLXIV of them, to be precise. Justin loved it. (BTW, it's Roman Numerals I to MM: Liber Difficillimo Computando Numerum, by Arthur Geisert.)

Biked to Dairy Queen, which closes for the winter this weekend. Then the grocery store. Then home. Got a lot of stuff done, the kids had fun, and we enjoyed the balmy 27°C (80.6°F) degree weather. Go global warming.

So, it was a good day around these parts.

Unfortunately, [livejournal.com profile] ninja_kat's days are not going so well lately. She's still pregnant (now 11 days overdue), and has to meet with the midwives to "discuss her options" because they want to monitor her every day once she's 2 weeks past the due date, but since it's Thanksgiving weekend coming up, the ultrasound folks will be closed for 4 days. I guess they're starting to consider the "I" word (that's Induction, BTW ;) And God I hope it doesn't come to that.

I wonder how many people she knows are dotted around Ottawa and elsewhere with little thought bubbles suspended over their heads saying "Come on out, come on out, come on baby, come on out." I know there's at least four in our neighbourhood.
