We've got considerably more stuff today than we did yesterday.

For one, we went to buy me yet another cell phone. Remember The X-Files? We appear to have learned Cell Phone Husbandry from Mulder and Scully. We suck. Have lost two so far, and we couldn't even afford to lose one.

Anyway, it's been a couple of years since we owned one, and the kids are a little older now, so we figured, what the hell. Went to get one and, Surprise! BellWorld was giving away DVD players for every cell phone purchased. It's a crappy one, but who am I to look a gift DVD in the mouth?

Then we got Chris' inheritance from his grandmother, who passed away a few months ago. It's more money than we've ever seen in one place. Quite... bewildering.

I think I'm going to kill Justin. Or maybe just try to get him to nap. He threw a chair down the stairs at Daniel this morning, and then threw another toy at him a few minutes ago. I swear I have no idea where he gets this. The minute I turn my back on him, he's all about destruction. And even when I'm with him, I have to constantly redirect, redirect, redirect. It gets unbelievably tiring after a few hours.

Off to nap!

Well, it may be crass materialism, and perhaps an even crasser reaction -- but I'm happy for you both, that you received the inheritance. I remember when my grandmother died two years ago, and the will was read, and she'd directed money to go to those grandkids and gr-grandkids whom she saw had the most need. I was one of them. Very uncomfortable, until everyone else said, "Mazel tov! What are your plans for it?!"

I know $$ has been an issue for you. So, Mazel tov. I hope it helps.

And congrats on the DVD player :-). My dad sent us his old one - nothing fancy - but it plays, lol. :-)

Yeah, the thing is, intellectually I know inheritances exist, but I never really clue in that a death can result in an inheritance until I'm reminded of it. I've come across other people who immediately start to see $$$$ upon the death of a family member, and it really, really creeps me out. Seems rather... vulture-like, really.

And as for the kind of family feuds that can erupt over who gets what... ::shudder:: What a way to honour the person who died.

As to our plans for it... well, yesterday the huge bucket of our debt emitted a little, tiny "blup" as a the drop of inheritance fell in. Not that it was a small inheritance at all, but our debt is so huge we'd have to win a huge lottery to really make a dent in it.

Ah well. I hope that wherever she is, Grandma Hurrell could tell that we were grateful, and thinking of her.
