Okay, I'll give it a try, but I know nothing about Canadian history, and sometimes get dates mixed up. And other excuses for doing badly would go here if I could think of them.
1867 - Andrew Johnson's impeachment?
1776 - the Declaration of Independence
1912 - Woodrow Wilson becomes president after the Republican vote is split between Taft, the incumbent, and Teddy Roosevelt, the still highly popular former president running on a third party ticket.
1865 - the American Civil War ends; Lincoln is assasinated
1917 - the Russian Revolution(s)
1215 - High Middle Ages, but I can't say nearer than that.
622 - I think this is around Bede's time, but can't say any nearer
1914 - WWI kicks off with a bang an assassination
1918 - WWI ends; a global flu pandemic kills more people than the war did
1929 - the stock market crashes, kicking off the Great Depression
79 - Pfft. Something with the Romans?
1347 - ... Grantian codifies canon law? No clue, really.
2001 - I think something happened in September...
1969 - Y'know, I don't remember anything specific for 69. Was it the year of the moon walk?
1861 - Lincoln inauguration; shots at Ft. Sumter; southern states secede; Civil War
1963 - JFK assassinated; the March on Washington
1973 - Watergate, I think. And my older sister was born. And the Americans leave Saigon, maybe.
800 - Charlemagne coronated as the Holy Roman Emperor
1961 - Sputnik, I think. And possibly Gagarin going into space. John Glenn wasn't until 62, if I recall correctly. I think this was also the summer of the Freedom Riders.
1492 - the Reconquista ends; as part of the celebrations, the Catholic Monarchs give Columbus money to sail across the ocean blue and bring back goodies
410 - Rome falls?
1968 - RFK and MLK assassinated;I think Woodstock, maybe.
