Okay, I'll give it a try, but I know nothing about Canadian history, Actually, checking the list I see I only included one date from Canadian history. ::is embarrassed::
Damn, I should've at least put in 1812.
1867 - Andrew Johnson's impeachment? Wiki says that was 1868. 1867 is the one and only tribute to my own nationalism, because I apparently suck as a Canadian.
1912 - Woodrow Wilson becomes president after the Republican vote is split between Taft, the incumbent, and Teddy Roosevelt, the still highly popular former president running on a third party ticket. OOh, that's way more historically relevant than the one i was thinking of, the Titanic sinking.
1215 - High Middle Ages, but I can't say nearer than that. Yes, but I was thinking of a specific thing that happened during the High Middle Ages. In England :)
622 - I think this is around Bede's time, but can't say any nearer ::checks:: This is actually my only non-European/North American date, because I apparently also suck as a non-Eurocentrist.
1918 - WWI ends; a global flu pandemic kills more people than the war did It is so weird that we so often forget that last one. i wondered if anyone would say it.
79 - Pfft. Something with the Romans? Yes! Something that went pffffft. Loudly.
1347 - ... Grantian codifies canon law? No clue, really. Ah, dunno about that one. And when I type grantian canon law, google asks me "Did you mean: granina canon law?" Bloody Philistines.
1969 - Y'know, I don't remember anything specific for 69. Was it the year of the moon walk? Yup!
1973 - Watergate, I think. And my older sister was born. And the Americans leave Saigon, maybe. I was thinking Watergate. And that was the year Chris was born too!
1961 - Sputnik, I think. And possibly Gagarin going into space. John Glenn wasn't until 62, if I recall correctly. I think this was also the summer of the Freedom Riders. Ooh! Sputnik was 1957, but you were right on Gagarin and the Freedom Riders. Cool! I was thinking Bay of Pigs.
1492 - the Reconquista ends; as part of the celebrations, the Catholic Monarchs give Columbus money to sail across the ocean blue and bring back goodies LOL!
410 - Rome falls? With a barbarian bang, not a whimper.
1968 - RFK and MLK assassinated;I think Woodstock, maybe. RFK & MLK yes; Woodstock was 1969. Though I'm a lot of the people who were there only remember 1968-1970s very vaguely, so they'd probably agree with you :)
