You know what we did to celebrate Earth Day? We drove aaaall around the city for a couple hours! But hey! We were in a Toyota Echo, which is pretty fuel efficient, so it's almost guilt-free, right?

Ah, yeah, OK, no. That's a big F on Earth Day for us. The kids had a friend who was celebrating his birthday today at Pizza Hut and Cosmic Adventures, which are both clear at the other end of town from us and quite a drive from one another. And I did not get it together enough to figure out how to do that car-free.

Random topic-jump: Posted pictures yesterday, and decided I like posting pictures. So here's a few more. Nothing huge or all that exciting, just random pix of our lives :)

Lunar eclipse

Fort Snow

Snowfall was unreal this winter. I haven't seen snowdrifts higher than me since I was a kid and therefore much shorter than I am now. The kids sure loved it. They built a neat little snowfort just on the side of our driveway.

Goodbye red car

This was my mom's car, older than Daniel. We traded it in for a Prius. We hope to do the same with Daniel soon.

Bad O Canada ice cream

Really cool concept: if you cut the slab right, you get a pretty maple leaf. It tastes foul, though. Don't buy it.

Our street on Earth Night

Sorry, the pictures turned out a little dark ;)

First day in shorts

OMG the kids were so happy when the white crap finally started to melt. And as Chris points out, they're true Canadians: there's still enormous mounds of snow on the ground and they're running around in shorts and t-shirts...

First picnic

... and picnicking in bare feet the next day.

Last snow

I have never been so happy to see the end of the snow. Enough already, Ma Nature. This picture was taken two days ago; it was 24C, but the drifts were so high they're still not quite gone.
