flotsam and jetsam
Oct. 25th, 2003 08:33 amHey
sangerin, we went to a vegetarian restaurant too last night! Yummeee...
Before that we went to our last private dance class, and I think we actually know something about dancing now. And let me tell you, a little (teeny tiny bit of) knowledge is a dangerous thing. I think we learned how to do the following:
Don't know what we'll look like the first time we actually try to do any of this in public, but it should be amusing for bystanders at least :)
***
Speaking of amusing to bystanders, I think the funniest thing my kids do is something that I really wish I could videotape, but it never lasts more than a few moments.
Daniel is short, and little-kid-skinny. Roughly 5th percentile for height and weight for his age. Justin, OTOH, is huge. Roughly 95th percentile for height and weight. Because of the three year difference in their ages, he's slightly shorter than Daniel but outweighs him by a couple of pounds. And he's built like a tank - round belly, stout, strong arms and legs, round face. Think elf v. dwarf, and you're not far off the mark.
Anyway. They're both highly verbal and precocious, but because Daniel is older, he usually wins arguments. When deciding what they're going to play, Daniel can always muster more and better points than Justin can.
Justin, however, doesn't let this faze him. He will simply, once he realizes he's losing, grab Daniel by the hand and head off to do what he wants to do. Dragging Daniel behind him like a pull-toy, utterly ignoring his protests. Daniel loudly wailing the whole way (HEEeeeEEYY!! Juustiiin!! Quiit it! MAMaaaaaaa....) but helpless to resist.
I really wish I could film that. Maybe I'll set up a security camera in the living room.

- Tango (three steps, then right side): basic, promenade, turn, corte
- Foxtrot (two steps, then left side): basic, and I'm sure we learned other steps, but I can't remember them
- Rhumba (side, step step)(small): basic, 5-step turn, corner step, and... something else
- Waltz (back, step step)(bigger): basic, progressive, 7-step turn, and some weird swinging back-to-back hand-to-hand thing
- Swing: basic, basic turn, cuddle, man underarm turn, chicken walk, weird handshake type thing
Don't know what we'll look like the first time we actually try to do any of this in public, but it should be amusing for bystanders at least :)
