I've got a dispute at eBay and need a place to put the back-and-forth messages dealing with it, since I can't do attachments. Nothing of interest here.

Here is the summary of my case at eBay:

********************
Summary of this case
********************

June 10: I bought "Rosetta Stone Spanish" on June 10, 2010.

June 10: e-Bay immediately sent me a message letting me know that the item had been removed from e-Bay. I assumed that meant there was nothing to buy, and thus I would not be charged for it.

June 10: The payment went ahead anyway.

June (?): I received a catalogue for Chinese beauty products, with an unmarked CD inside it.

June 30: I received my credit card statement, showing that approx. $224.99 had been deducted.

June 30: After calling my credit card and PayPal, I started a case at eBay, explained the situation, and asked for my money back.

July 1: The seller wrote "please return it to get refund."

July 4: I responded "I did not receive the item. Unless you are a vendor from someplace in China, in which case the item I received did not resemble anything remotely connected with Rosetta Stone Spanish."

July 21: I contacted the seller again, repeated my earlier message (re. I had NOT RECEIVED AN ITEM), and threatened to escalate.

July 22, the seller agreed to a full refund if I returned the item, along with their address.

July 23: I contacted the seller for the THIRD TIME to remind them that "You have now told me twice that I need to return the item to get a refund. I have replied twice that as far as I DID NOT GET AN ITEM from you. I have nothing to return to you. UNLESS it is possible that you are the person who shipped me something from China. This is what I received:

I then included a link to pictures of the item I received, along with the password to view the pictures.

I have not received a reply.

Yeah, 'great'. Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of four-letter-based adjectives ;)

Thanks. This is the first time I've ever tried to buy anything off e-Bay; so far, I'm less than impressed :(
