Dec. 10th, 2010 11:15 pmSo, don't know if anybody remembers the Big Old Table of History Songs? The one that ended up having (gulp) 86 songs?
The other day I saw this (Not Work Safe!!) video the other day, and immediately thought of sharing it here. Then wondered if I could find as many women-centred videos as I could history songs.
Yeah, failed bigtime, in that I only have ten so far :D :D
Here they are. Note: not all of these videos are entirely positive wrt the entirety of women, and a few of them make me wince a bit, but all of them (IMHO) at least give you something to think about, even if you disagree in part with the message - or the messenger.
Also: not necessarily kidsafe or worksafe. NOT FOR TO CLICK ON LINKS IN THE OFFICE OR THE CHURCH NURSERY.
(list of characters/sources here)
Any suggestions to add to the list? They don't have to be All Women Are Wonderful. Just ♀-themed.
Edit: Joss Whedon's Equality Now speech:
Ooh! Sisters Are Doin' It For Themselves, Annie Lennox and Aretha Franklin!
Meryl Streep talks for the first little while about Joss's mother, then Joss thanks her, then he starts on the topic around 2:00 minutes in. The actual woman-centred part of his speech starts around 3:15.
