Not a good sign when you have to keep reminding yourself, as you're writing, "This is a 50% exam. This is important. You've only got two hours to do this. Wake UP! 50%!!"
Could somebody answer this for me, because I've been wondering for about 20 years?
Why, after an exam is written and there is absolutely nothing you can do about your mark, do so many people feel compelled to talk about it? And discover that they answered something wrong? And freak out about it?
I mean... you're DONE. You're FREE. Of this subject, at least. Until the next terms begins. WHY do this to yourself?

Date: 2003-12-05 09:56 am (UTC)Because they're naive and believe Career Services when they say that first year grades are The Most Important Thing EVER In The History Of The World and that if every single one of them does not get straight A's and land on law review then they're going to be the biggest failure as a lawyer and as a human being and they will never get a job except maybe at McDonalds or if they're really lucky they might work as a valet because if you don't get good grades your first semester you will never! be! a! success! EVER! and you will die unloved and alone and people will spit on your grave, saying, "There's that kid who didn't take first semester law school exams seriously enough. Idiot." And then they will walk off into the sunset along with other good grade-getters and mock you even in death.
And since they're terrified of that, and since they believe that, and since they have *no* clue whether they're going to be the mocked dead guy or the walking into the sunset guy, they're desperate to know how everyone else did so they can prepare to gloat or prepare to die.
::sigh:: I want to start my own law school so I can try to put an end to all this bullshit. But graduating from someone else's law school would be a start, so ... back to studying.
