Jan. 25th, 2004 09:48 amSo tired.
Talked to Chris' stepmother for about... two hours? Maybe three? Last night. Yeah - 10:15-1:15. God. We did get a lot of stuff aired out, so I hope it was worth it. But I was too mind-jumbled to be able to go to sleep right away, so I geeked, then watched TV. Didn't get to sleep until about 4, and the kids woke up bright and early at 7:30, so I'm a little woozy. Chris and I are supposed to go on a date tonight and see LOTR, but I don't know if that's going to happen. I don't want to pay great gobs of money only to fall asleep in the theatre. Especially since Chris didn't come in from call until about 4-5am either, so he's not exactly in great shape to do anything today.
Random topic change: my mom and Guy held little birthday party for the boys yesterday. An insane amount of presents. Bionicles for both, Yu-Gi-Oh cards for Daniel, Dora the Explorer everything for Justin, very nice winter clothing, and two cakes. Amazing cakes, as a matter of fact. Oh, and $205 for each child - a five dollar bill and a cheque for each of them. Daniel's said, "For Daniel's Savings", and Justin's came with a little note: "Justin, if you still want to take ballet, Luli (their nickname for her) will pay for the classes and supplies." Justin was very, very happy.
Priceless quotes from my friend Sarah, from an article she found on homeschooling:
How do you home school with small children in the house? First, you must give up. Small children are smarter, healthier, and more energetic than any home school mom in the entire known universe. So you have to break some rules. I have. In fact, I have broken every rule I ever set for myself when I decided to be a home schooler."
"Next, I turn on the TV. Yes, you heard right – I allow my 3-year-old watch TV in the mornings while the rest of us do school. PBSKids, even – P.C., tree-hugging stuff and all. Yes, yes... I know I'm scarring him for life. Yes, I know it's bad for him. Yes, I know "Sagwa" does not count as history of the Eastern world and that "Zoboomafoo" will probably cause ADHD. Ask me if I care. This is my third child. Times change. Moms who want to survive, adapt."
BTW, check out Sarah's page - she's got a picture of an astronaut with a drop of water floating in front of him. Very cool.
