B-day minus 1
Jan. 30th, 2004 02:00 pmDaniel is now 7. It seems rather unreal.
Finally got a call from GyneGuy. I'm scheduled to go in February 26. Don't really know what to feel about that.
I'm home tidying up and cleaning for tomorrow's party. So far we have 10 child guests confirmed, with 4 more we haven't heard from. God help us. Although last year we had 13 kids and 11 adults and it went really remarkably well. The adults all commented that it was unbelievably peaceful - all except for the two non-parents in the group, who looked at us like we were speaking in tongues and had to hide at home for two days after the party, to recuperate ;)
Counseling yesterday... I'm still in rumination mode over it. It went well. But there's a lot that was said that I've been thinking about ever since yesterday - actually, since way before yesterday. Since the incident with Chris' stepmother. There's stuff burbling about up there, trying to find a home.

Good luck, sweetie. I won't bug you with another whiny letter until it's all over. I hope you all have a terrific time.

Yes, you do, actually. Karolyn and Rob (the couple in question) are very much childfree, as opposed to childless. They've never wanted kids, although Karolyn loves kids very much and is very much attached to mine. They just both know parenthood is really, really not for them.
And they're who I think of when I get frustrated at people who seem to think you have to have kids to give your life meaning. What crap. Karolyn and Rob's lives have far more meaning than the lives of a hell of a lot of people who've had kids for the wrong reasons. I mean, really. If your life doesn't have meaning to you, kids aren't going to do much to help that.
::sorry, getting off soapbox now::
