What joy! I'm actually interested in some of my readings!

Started a new course, Legislation, yesterday. I think I'm going to like it. I know the guys I was sitting near won't like it, because they groaned at almost everything the prof said. They groaned especially loudly when she said that since we are studying legislative drafting which deals with precise language and meaning, she will be very strict when it comes to our own language and meaning. Spelling or grammar mistakes in our papers will be harshly punished.

Fellas... get over yourselves. You (presumably) graduated from high school and got at least one university degree in order to get in here. Surely somewhere in there you must have been taught how to write, use a spellchecker, and get help with your grammar.

Besides which... you're in LAW SCHOOL. LEARN TO WRITE. Judges are not amused by "Our client is a real nice guy who didnt' mean to kill the lady so he, says sorry. And this case is a lot liek th ecase at of (1997), 3OR, 3d, 73."

Anyway. Looks like it'll be a fun class. And our first reading had to do with the progress of the Midwifery Act through Manitoba legislature! Cool!

I know. I'm a geek.

    LOL! Yeah, somehow I thought you'd be able to Feel My Pain over this ;) Isn't it absolutely disheartening some days, looking around you and seeing the future of the legal profession? Bloody dismal.

    Yanno, I'm just a lowly assistant ::cough - like, when I actually have a job - cough::, but I, too, fear for the future of American (North American, okay?) jurisprudence when people like us finally die off...

    ::Sighs::

    Oh, I want to go to school. Law school would be nice, but I think they require college first... I want to go to school. Period. I would love to be excited about things besides on time flights.

    ::more sighs::

    I don't think you're a geek at all. I'm actually jealous. :)

    :) Yeah, I bet. Actually, I've been wishing to be excited by school for most of this year. It's been kind of a hopeless wish until now though. Reading about whether flax crops destroyed by untimely pesticide spraying were covered by insurance or not has not been exactly inspiring, and that's what I've mostly been reading. Ugh. I've read flight manifests that contained more gripping drama than that ;)

    Oh wow, Sarah! I had no idea you were in law school too!

    Seriously, some of these people are disgracefully close to the above writing sample. The creme de la creme of Canada's educational system.

    Sorry, I meant the cream the of cream of Canadas' education ssytem.

    And we wonder why home schooling is catching on.
