My Name is Inigo Montoya
Feb. 6th, 2004 10:28 pmOK, today ranks as fairly high up there on the scale of terrible, horrible, no good, very bad days.
- I drove the car in this morning, but Chris needed it for appointments. So I asked the lady at the parking place if it would be OK for somebody else to take the car, and described Chris to her. "No problem, don't worry about it," she said.
- Realized that I didn't have my cell phone after I parked. It was almost 9am and my lecture started at 9, so I couldn't go home and get it (round trip at that time is about 40 minutes). This was bad; Chris would have no way to contact me to ask if Justin and I needed a drive home.
- So. I wrote a note to Chris telling him to please send me an e-mail if he could come and pick us up and still get to Daniel at his babysitter's by 5:30.
- Got to campus, rushed in to class - and class was delayed by about 20 min. Damn.
- Good lecture, though boring. Headache began.
- Finished lecture, went and sent Chris a frantic e-mail telling him to please not make me take the bus home.
- Waited.
- Waited.
- Headache got worse.
- Waited.
- Asked the English Common Law office if I could use their phone to page Chris, and to receive his call when he called me back. They said yes, but no call back occurred.
- Paged Chris overhead at CHEO. No dice.
- More e-mails.
- Asked Library to use their phone to page Chris. No dice.
- Called Daniel's babysitter to ask her to tell Chris to come pick me and Justin up when he came to pick up Daniel. No answer, no machine.
- Headache worse.
- Finally sent forlorn e-mail to Chris saying I was leaving.
- Left and got Justin from the day care.
- Justin was a bit of a nightmare, so I warned him he would not get his bus treat if he didn't behave.
- Worked like a charm. He was very well behaved on the walk to the bus.
- Saw a bus that looked like ours (57) but the numbers in front were hard to see. Finally decided it was the 97, and thus didn't run for it.
- It went by and I saw the numbers on the side. 57. Crap.
- Justin behaved perfectly until our bus got there, at which point he threw snow at one of the other commuters. No bus treat.
- Behaved perfectly on the 57.
- Got to our transfer and missed our connection. Waited. Freezing. Head killing me.
- Bus got there, and Justin threw a temper tantrum because he wanted to sit in back.
- Got off at the mall, not able to stand the thought of the long walk home.
- Called Laine. No answer, no machine.
- Called Chris. No answer. Called five time. No answer.
- Started the long walk home.
- Schoolyard we walk through was knee-deep in snow. Literally. Got snow in my boots breaking a path for Justin.
- Got home.
- Found out the b*tch at Parking charged Chris to get out of the parking lot. Must kill.
- Had gin & tonic and watched Princess Bride. Princess Bride makes everything better.
- Going to bed.

Date: 2004-02-06 09:00 pm (UTC)I don't know how you manage to remain so incredibly good-natured through it all, really.
Hint: A shot of peppermint schnapps in hot chocolate is a nice little nightcap on a cold night...
