I just wrote the day's date for the first time today, and suddenly realized it's March 23. Leslie and Bryan Rampey died one year ago today.

Somehow it doesn't seem that long.

Oh my

I remember when I first started reading Law & Order fan fiction and discovered Leslie's wonderful stories, when I'd read all I could find I tried emailing her and then I googled her name. I was so shocked when what I got back was an obituary for her and Brian. I wished I'd been fortunate enough to know such a talented lady.

I'm a little out of the loop here-- would someone enlighten me? I've read several things about Ms. Rampey passing away, but I don't know the circumstances.

Leslie and Bryan had gone to visit his parents for the weekend. On the way back, they were struck head on by a golfer in an SUV. They both died instantly, and the golfer was also injured. Nobody knows what happened; the golfer wasn't impaired, and has no memory of the accident, and there were no other witnesses.

Leslie was a very, very active member in a whole lot of online communities, including the L&O community. She's still missed.

It's evident that she was a very special lady. I'm sorry I didn't have the chance to know her.

Ditto what [livejournal.com profile] jenniferjames said - I really enjoyed reading her stories. I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to know her, but she must have been a really sweet person to leave behind such good memories in the hearts of those who did know her.

That was today? Man. I had no idea.

I will always wish I had gotten to know Leslie better, because the little time I did know her, I liked her immensely.
