Home alone today. I have a ton of stuff to do, but took the time this morning to go back to bed after everyone was gone, and slept for about an hour. I think I needed that.

Did the new name meme as a brain-break, and while I was doing it I remembered the last name meme I did ("if you call me ____ you must be ___"). Then I remembered yet another nickname my mom had for me: "Pelotita". Little Ball. I'm starting to wonder if she ever actually called me by my real name when I was a kid.

In any case, here's a
1. What is your middle name?: Jimena, the name I use regularly. My first name is Claudia.

2. If you had been born the other sex, did your parents tell you what your name would have been?: Federico. Yay for that second X-chromosome.

3. Do you have children and if so, what are their names?: Daniel and Justin.

4. If you were to ever have a child or more children, what would you name them?: Julia Chinook for a girl, don't know for a boy.

5. Most people know their mother's maiden name, but do you know your grandmother's maiden name?: Sure: Trucco and Sepulveda. Great-grandmothers? Lee McKay, Borquez, Sepulveda (again), and (I think) Silva. Can't go back any farther than that.

6. Did you have an imaginary friend as a child?: Oh yes, named Firulete. My nanny threw him into the garbage when he drew on the walls one too many times. The bizarre part of this story is that I could swear I remember her throwing an actual little gnome-like person into the garbage, but my mother swears Firulete was non-corporeal.

7. What was the name of your first pet?: Alice, I think. (I think) 7-week old puppy. My father took her back the first night she was with us because she was howling, then told me she howled because I wasn't a good enough pet owner.

8. If you have pet(s) now, what are their names?: Cat, Jehovah. No-name goldfish and snails.

9. What was the name of the first person you ever kissed?: Shane, I think.

10. What was the name of the school you attended as a child?: Trewhela's English school in Santiago, Casablanca Branch (American) school in Morocco, Fisher Heights in Ottawa.

11. What was/is the name of your English teacher in high school?: Um... Mr. Icky Nothisrealname, Mr. Lemcke, Mrs... arg. This is tough. Don't remember.

12. Do you name your vehicles? Nope.

Claudia Jemina! That's a wonderful name. We could call you CJ and you could pretend you're on The West Wing. Heeee. (Hi, I am a fandomwhore. But you knew that.)

Hee. Now I really want to refer to you as "C. Jimena N. Lastname" in my chapbook. 'Cause that many initials make me giggle.

You named your cat after God?!

Oh, yeah... um...

Her name is the result of a rather embarrassing clash between blasphemy and feminism, actually.

Chris had said that he wanted to name our cat Jehovah, so whenever he watched the cat he could be a Jehovah's Witness. I said I'd never heard of anything so ridiculous, and no way were we going to name our pet after the Creator. I may not be religious, but I do have certain limits of decency.

Then we got to the pet store, looked at the kitties, picked one, then asked if it was male or female. The store dude checked and said, "Female."

"Oh, I guess we can't call her Jehovah, then," Chris said, a little disappointed.

"ExCUse me?" I said. "Why not?"

So yeah. Blasphemy and feminism. In a cute little black and white furry bundle.

We named our second cat Siva, and I've decided that our next pet will be called Gitchie Manitou.

"C. Jimena N. Lastname"

::cringing::

Actually on my driver's licence I'm Jimena C N Bordes. Not intentionally, though - I wrote Jimena N. Bordes, but the application form had a smudge in just the right (wrong) place. I told them it was a mistake and they shrugged and said 'Tough'. To change it I'd have to send all sorts of documents to all sorts of places. Bastards.

At least it's not as bad as Chris, whose licence name was 'Christoher' for years. He told them it was a mistake and they asked if maybe he mispelled it on the form.

"My own name? I don't think so! Besides... nobody's named ChristoHER. That's not a name."

"Well, it's the name you've got for now."

Idgits.
