geeking around...
Apr. 16th, 2004 10:29 pmTaking a break from my plunge into the world of corporate liability and exploding mines, I somehow ended up reading about Danny Pintauro, who was the little kid in Who's The Boss. Damn, I think I watched about three hours of that show in its 8-year run. You know, a few minutes here and there between commercials for shows I was actually watching.
Yeah, so I'm reading about Danny Pintauro (
heathers, this may be your fault) and somehow I get to this link. Which I thought was pretty neat, so I'll post it: from The Advocate, Stars speak out against the Federal Marriage Amendment. Most were kind of no-brainers - Barbra Streisand, Yoko Ono and Cyndi Lauper are for gay rights? ::gasp:: What a shock!
But others were kind of cool. Ice-T. Itzhak Perlman. Flea. Peter, Paul, and Mary. Kris Kristofferson. Steven Page from the Barenaked Ladies. Neat.
"As a Canadian, I proudly tell my children that as of now they can marry whomever they choose and love whomever they love... And I can tell my American friends that our country hasn't disappeared into the ocean; nor have we all turned into pillars of salt. The most disturbing thing about Bush's antigay amendment is that he and his posse have obviously decided that the best way for them to win an election…is with the politics of exclusion, xenophobia, and hate. It is the world's responsibility to tell him that it's unacceptable."
Oh, and while I've got
heathers on my mind - thanks for the lj update on the game. I had no idea it was going on, but Justin asked to see Fantasia at dinner time and as I was fast-forwarding over the 'abstract' section at the beginning, we saw a bit of it. Justin immediately said, "Go Sens Go!" (except it came out more like Go Sams Go - he's only learned about hockey from the day care.) And Daniel asked me if Ed Belfour really was the best goalie ever. Thanks to you again,
heathers, I was glad to be able to answer "I don't know, but he's pretty good," instead of Eddie Who?
Anyway, Daniel and I were kind of interested in it, but Chris and Justin were pretty blase, and Justin wanted me to put on his movie. So the score was 0-0 when I last saw it. I'll have to tell the boys the Sens didn't win after all.
