Outside days? Are all well and good, but Chris may shoot me if I have another one like today. We walked to my mom's place, which takes me 25 min, but we stopped frequently because of Justin's shorter legs and the slight drizzle that kept starting and stopping all day. And somehow, we ended up coming home with a backpack full of books. From the used bookstore and library on the road to my mom's, and from my mom's basement.

Chris cries when I bring home new books. We have 6 huge bookshelves full of books, and about 10 boxes of books that have nowhere else to go. So maybe I'll just keep today's bookish acquisitions to myself :)

From the bookstore I picked up another one of those children's classics (The Oregon Trail) and Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere, which has been recommended to me by every single person I have ever met. At the library: Paul Sawyer's Hominids, the first book in the Neanderthal Parallax (AU where Neanderthals didn't die out), and Tesseracts 4, a sci-fi short story collection. At my mom's... about 15 kids' books including Bridge to Terabithia, and a couple of Patricia Kennealys. ::happy reader sigh::

There are disadvantages to two adult book collectors in a house. We have a collection of close to 2000 books and growing. Made worse by the fact that I mostly read fiction and my husband mostly reads non-fiction. Books were probably our biggest reason for making the move from apartment to house.

OMG I don't know what we would do if Chris also collected books. Luckily, I think that other than old textbooks (that he still needs) he has managed to save Timestorm, Ariel, Einstein's Dreams, and The Last Planet. The rest are mine, mine, mine all mine.

My excuse is that I never had a lot of books as a kid. I love to buy and OWN books.

Add me to the list of Neverwhere recommenders! Throw on Patricia Keannealy too, oh wait, you already did, yay! I suspect your challenge will be finding the time to read.
