bowties and funerals and cakes, oh my
May. 19th, 2004 04:53 pmHappy Birthday
snarkhunter!
Happy Nicotine-Free Day,
bast2! (although from what I've heard, 'happy' is not an appropriate adjective... 'bearable' may be more realistic)
Shopped for ties and bowties today for the wedding, and for groceries to make a chocolate zucchini cake. Then went to Amit's dad's funeral with Justin. It's not terribly easy to keep a little guy respectful during a long and (to him) boring event, but I think we did OK, mostly. And he was fairly interested in it, and he seemed to grasp that although we didn't know the man who had died very well (in fact, Justin had never met him) we were there for Amit and Jeea and their daughter Kiran. And that meant we had to behave.
My god, Kiran is cute. She's almost two now (I think) and she's just gorgeous. Very quiet, with great big black eyes and curly black hair. What a cutie.
I kept having to remind myself that of course kids that age are terminally cute: it's the only way they can get away with inflicting dirty diapers, temper tantrums, and erratic sleeping patterns upon their parents ;)
I think tonight is the second last Beavers night. Don't know what we're supposed to do for it, but I think we'll make the zucchini cake just in case it's needed. And in case it's not... hey, free cake!
