Watersliding Pies of Doom
Jul. 8th, 2004 09:44 pm::shocked whisper:: I may have finally made a rhubarb pie.
Yeah, I know, big deal. But I've been running up and down the stairs for over an hour, checking the damn thing, giving it ten more minutes, despairing as it refused to gel... and finally giving up and leaving it on the counter. And I just went downstairs to check on the blueberry pie... and there's Ms. Rhubarb, looking mighty pleased with her well-gelled self.
Will give proper verdict after I taste it.
Later Edit: Well, it could easily be mistaken for that stuff they use to test for diabetes, but I think the kids will like it. Memo to myself: next time, use 1/2 as much sugar and don't soak the rhubarb as long as the recipe says to.
In other news, I went to the dentist today and then we all went to Mont Cascades waterslide park. Whoo boy. Five adults and four kids, running up and sliding down for about 3 hours. Although I was rather miffed that my first 45 minutes or so were spent trying to figure out what slides I could take Justin on, unable to get a straight answer from anybody on staff. Feh.
In any case. Good time.
I am a little worried, though... I've been trying to call my mom all day and her number's been busy. I hope they just took it off the hook for convenience. Will call tomorrow morning, then go over if it's still busy.
