Chris is getting the kids ready for bed, so this is pretty much a "Just the facts, ma'am" entry.

Spent a few hours at my mom's. She had only awakened briefly yesterday when my father and brothers were there, and didn't wake up the rest of the day - not even at dinner time. I got there around 11am today and she still hadn't woken up. Nor did she by the time I had left, around 5. I sat with her for a few hours while Chris took Daniel to Buddha Buddies and Karen and Scott took Justin out to the park, and she woke up for a few seconds about 5 times. No words, most of the time - just opened her eyes, saw me there, smiled and went back to sleep. I managed to get 1.5 glasses of water with some kind of nutrition mixed into them into her before she went back to sleep. And we got some of her pills in as well. No food. She asked, a few minutes after getting her pills, if she'd had any meds today. Asked to be moved up in the bed. Nothing else.

The doctor said that my mom probably won't go in the next 24 hours, but almost certainly will by the end of the week.

So we came back home and spent some time with Sarah's family. Watched part of The Two Towers while Sarah got rid of tension in my back that I believe has probably been there since... um... well, who knows.

Going to put the kids to bed now and try and then get some decent sleep myself. Back to my mother's house tomorrow - the doctor said she'd probably come by first thing, and I'd like to be there for that.

Jesus, I don't even know you but wish there was some way to reach through the computer and comfort you. I read your words and relive my father's last day(s) and makes me all the more sad for you. Just a thought. My stepmom was present when my father passed away. The hospice nurse seemed to know that he only had a couple of days left. So...on his last night, she told him that she wanted to have a romantic evening with him. She proceeded to play his favorite CDs (Manheim Steamroller and El Condor Pasa). He took his last breath listening to the last one. It's a melancholy memory but I find peace in it. Perhaps you can find a way to create something special for your mom as she passes. I wish all the peace in the world.
