Start off the day with a bang, not a whimper: Justin hit Daniel (again), and Netscape nuked all my bookmarks and e-mails.

Does anybody else get this problem? My Netscape randomly "updates" itself - although as far as I can tell, a lot of the time it ends up with the same version as before - and in the process, wipes out all of my bookmarks, e-mail Address Book, and all of my sent and received e-mails.

I get no prompt, asking me if I want to update or not. I just turn on my computer, start Netscape - and get a message saying "Netscape Updated!" and all bookmarks and e-mails gone.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to move to Explorer, but I don't appear to have a choice in the matter.

If you're a Mac person still using OS9. something I may be able to help you. Otherwise, you need someone else. But if you are using Mac OS9. something go to your control panels and look for a file labeled "software update". Open it and it should give you the option to update software automatically (if the box ischecked) or not. The other thing you can do is keep a copy of the bookmarks folder outside the Netscape folder itself. Then if it's lost you can just move it back into Netscape after your "update". I suppose you could do the same thing with e-mails but if you modify that too frequently it gets to be a nuisance to have to keep copying it every time you put something new in it.
