Shoulda Stood In Bed
Jul. 29th, 2004 01:44 pmDamn near useless morning today. I've been forgetting/misplacing everything. Shopping lists, car keys, information for a bank transfer, cash, wallet, brain...
Biked all the way down to the grocery store (about 20 min with the kids). My plan was to drop off a roll of film, wire my aunt Gilda $ for her tickets, do some grocery shopping, pick up the film, then bike down to The Comic Book store and put up a notice asking if any local kids want to join a D&D club.
I dropped off the roll of film. That part worked.
Got to the bank and realized I'd left the info for the wiring at home. So. 20 min back with the kids, and by the time we were home the kids were exhausted and I was frazzled. Shouting over traffic, waiting for the kids to catch up/yelling at them to slow down, watching that they don't go into traffic... bwaa. No wonder I don't do this often. Give me a nice calm bike trip down to Experimental Farm any day, through suburban streets and nature trails. I think I'll do that tomorrow.
So. Back to the bank (by car). Found out I needed the address of my aunt's bank. Which I didn't have. Pooh. Picked up groceries, put them in the car and realized I'd forgotten the pictures. Went to get the pictures and realized I'd left my wallet in the car. ::ggrrrrr::
Went to The Comic Book, which was the high point of the day. There wasn't an already existing kids' D&D club, but the owner of the store was mightily impressed that we wanted to start one. He offered to put up the notice himself, and actually put it over top of some very popular LOTR miniature figures in a display so it would be really visible. Cool :)
Lunch: got the kids their lunch, put my pepper, tomato and feta salad on the counter, turned to get myself some milk, and bumped the salad onto myself and the kitchen floor. Great. Peppers, tomatoes, feta, onions, and "salad juice," running down my legs and puddling about my feet. Lovely.
I'm currently trying to gear up for an afternoon of more errands with the kids. After they're done splashing in the pool with Khoi, the kid next door. It's gotta go better than this morning, right? (please, Fates, take pity on me and don't prove me wrong).
Oh, and by the way, I pulled both of them out of Spanish camp. And Chris doesn't want them to go back next year. ::sigh:: I think I agree with him, but think we should discuss it more rationally at some point in the future. In the meantime, we're just trying to make the most out of what's left of this somewhat crummy summer.
