Let Me Be Switzerland
Aug. 4th, 2004 10:13 pmWhyyyy do people insist on drawing other people into their squabbles? Especially inter-family squabbles?
No, I won't go into details. After a phone call where the above happened, I had an interesting little euphemistic conversation with Chris over dinner (kids were there, and we sure as hell didn't want them getting drawn in) over how ironic it is that often, the feuding party who is trying to draw you in the hardest is the party you most feel like telling, "Dude, don't make me pick. You won't like who I pick. 'Cause it ain't you. It wouldn't have been you before you started slagging the other side, and this sure as hell is not helping your cause."
Oh, and also? Holding on to grievances for decades on end? Waste of time. Deal with it and move on, people. You may not be willing/able to work it out with the party that (allegedly) hurt you, but at the very least, work it out with yourself as much as you can. Because still nursing the wound decades later as if it happened yesterday? Is wasteful and sad.
That is all.
