bear and snarkhunter both highly recommended "Xanadu" with Olivia Newton-John as a must-see movie - must see with a friend who will mock it as hard as you do, or while stoned or drunk, or maybe all three. So here I am, cheerfully chipping in with a rec of my own:Logan's Run.
The book was cool. The author, clearly desperate to pay off violent loan sharks, sold it to the movie makers. The movie makers got really, really high, butchered the book beyond recognition or redemption, and produced a glorious ecstatic explosion of fantabulous late-70s craptasm.
Go see. Pretty. Shiny. Seriously Messed Up.
